Gen 4 Pickleball Paddle — Throat Foam, Power, Control
PP honeycomb core + EVA foam-injected perimeter walls + a dedicated foam layer in the throat area. The Gen 4 construction rebalances the paddle, enlarges the sweet spot, and keeps power hits stable from baseline to kitchen line.

The next step after thermoformed edge walls
Gen 4 starts where Gen 3 ends. It keeps the thermoformed unibody shell, the PP honeycomb core, and the EVA foam-injected perimeter wall that removes the separate edge guard. Then it adds a proprietary foam layer in the throat area — the narrow V-shaped transition between the face and the handle.
That throat foam does three things. It shifts the balance point closer to the player’s hand for quicker resets. It extends the sweet spot deeper toward the neck of the paddle, so off-center hits stay accurate. And it dampens vibration on hard drives, giving the paddle a more predictable, powerful feel.
The face is typically built with raw carbon fiber for a natural, gritty texture that holds spin without adding extra paint layers. Paddle weights are controlled around 225g ±5g standard, with a Precision Program at ±2-3g for brands that need tighter tolerance.

Why brands move to Gen 4
Throat foam layer
A dedicated foam insert in the throat area tunes the balance point and adds controlled flex, so the paddle feels quicker without losing plow-through.
Stronger, stable power
The thermoformed unibody and foam-filled perimeter reduce face shear on hard drives. Power stays predictable even when you lean into the ball.
Expanded sweet spot
Because the foam extends from the edge wall down into the throat, the forgiving zone is larger than Gen 3 — especially on low volleys and defensive blocks.
No glued edge guard
The EVA foam is injected directly into the molded perimeter, eliminating the separate edge strip and glue line that can delaminate over time.
Raw carbon spin surface
Raw carbon fiber gives a natural, long-lasting texture. Optional ceramic sand infusion extends spin life and adds color choices for your brand.
Tolerance programs
Standard ±5g or Precision ±2-3g weight control. Match your line-up across batches so every SKU feels the same in a player’s hand.
Gen 1 → Gen 2 → Gen 3 → Gen 4

Cold-press + separate edge guard
Layers pressed at lower temperature, with a glued-on edge guard. Simple, affordable, but the bonded edge seam is a common failure point.
Thermoformed one-piece body + glued edge strip
High-temperature molding fuses the face and core. A separate edge strip is still bonded on, improving durability over Gen 1.
EVA foam-injected perimeter wall
The edge guard is replaced by injected EVA foam, removing the glue line and enlarging the sweet spot toward the edges.
Throat foam layer added
The upgrade that matters: a foam insert in the throat area extends the sweet spot into the neck, rebalances the paddle, and smooths out power transfer on aggressive shots.
Raw carbon standard, ceramic sand upgrade
Raw carbon face (standard)
- Natural grit from the raw carbon weave — no added paint to wear off
- Options: T700, 3K, 12K, 18K weaves
- Consistent spin across the life of the paddle
- Clean, premium look popular with serious players
Ceramic sand infused surface
- Ceramic grit mixed into the resin, not screen-printed
- Won’t flake or peel like sprayed-on textures
- Available in 80/100 mesh and 4 colors
- 100-hit lab test loses ~40 RPM vs ~100 RPM on standard gritty faces

Gen 4 pickleball paddle — common questions
What makes a Gen 4 paddle different from Gen 3?
Gen 3 introduced EVA foam-injected perimeter walls, removing the separate edge guard and enlarging the sweet spot toward the edges. Gen 4 keeps that construction and adds a foam layer in the throat area — the V-shaped transition between the face and handle. This rebalances the paddle, extends the sweet spot deeper into the neck, and dampens vibration for more stable power.
Is Gen 4 better for power or control?
Gen 4 leans slightly toward power because the unibody thermoformed shell and foam-filled perimeter let the face store and release more energy. But the throat foam also adds controlled flex, so the paddle still feels connected and accurate on soft shots. You can tune the balance by choosing 14mm for more control or 16mm for more power.
What surface options do you offer?
Raw carbon fiber is the standard — T700, 3K, 12K, or 18K weave. For brands that want longer spin life and color differentiation, we offer ceramic sand infused surfaces in 80/100 mesh and four colors: black, blue, green, and yellow.
What is the MOQ and lead time?
MOQ is 200 pcs per custom design. Samples take about 10 days for existing constructions, or 14 days with full custom graphics. Bulk production is typically 35 days after sample approval.
Can I get USAPA approval for my Gen 4 paddle?
USAPA approval is held by the brand, not the factory. We build the paddle to meet USAPA/IFP dimensional, surface, and performance requirements and supply the compliant samples and test data you need to submit under your own brand name.
Do you offer weight-matched batches?
Yes. Our standard tolerance is ±5g. For premium lines, the Precision Program holds each paddle within ±2-3g of the target weight, with balance and swing-weight reports available on request.
Can you ship directly to my warehouse or Amazon FBA?
Yes. We ship EXW, FOB Shenzhen/Vietnam, CIF, or DDP. We can also prep cartons with Amazon FBA labels and pallet requirements if you provide the shipment plan.
