What makes a paddle "Gen 3"
The industry has settled on three generations of thermoformed paddle construction. Gen 1 is the original cold-pressed build with a separate edge guard. Gen 2 is fully thermoformed but still relies on a bonded edge strip. Gen 3 replaces that edge strip with foam injected directly into the perimeter of the paddle body — one continuous molded wall, no glue line, no seam to delaminate.
For B2B buyers, the practical difference is the sweet spot. With traditional edge guards, the playing area effectively ends where the edge guard begins. Gen 3's foam-injected walls push the playable surface closer to the edge of the paddle, and the foam itself absorbs vibration instead of transmitting it to your hand.

Why the industry moved to foam-injected walls
The cross-section shows what changed. Each generation extended the molded body deeper into the edge, and removed one more bonded seam in the process.
Cold press + separate edge guard
Layers of carbon or fiberglass compressed in a cold mold, with a separate bonded edge guard glued on after production. Strong, but the glue line is the most common failure point in the field.
One-piece body + bonded edge guard
Heat-molded into a single body, but the edge is still a separate strip bonded to the perimeter. Eliminates the body seam, but the edge seam remains.
One-piece body + injected EVA foam wall
The edge is no longer glued on. EVA foam is injected into the perimeter of the body during molding, becoming one continuous part with the face and core. No seam, larger sweet spot, softer feel, quieter impact.
Pair Gen 3 with a ceramic-sand-infused face
Gen 3's raw-carbon face is the standard substrate for our ceramic-sand-infused surface technology. The sand is mixed into the resin during layup, so the texture is part of the face — not a coating that wears off.
